Canada's New PM Mark Carney Invites PM Modi to Attend G7 Summit in June 2025

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India has received an official invitation to participate in the G-7 summit to be held in Canada this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself gave this information on Friday. He said that he received a call from Canadian Prime Minister Mark J. Carney, in which he invited India to attend the upcoming summit.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform X, "It was a pleasure to talk to Canadian Prime Minister Mark J. Carney on the phone. Congratulated him on his victory in the recent elections and thanked him for inviting me to the G-7 Summit." He said, "India and Canada are vibrant democracies and there is a deep people-to-people relationship between the two countries. We will work together with new energy on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests. Looking forward to meeting at the summit."
This year the G7 summit is being held in Kananaskis, Alberta province of Canada from June 15 to 17. Earlier there was speculation that India might not get an invitation, but now after PM Modi's confirmation, it has become clear that India will be a part of this global platform. This invitation is being seen as a positive sign in the relations between the two countries. The G7 is a group of the world's seven largest developed economies, which includes the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan. Inviting India also reflects India's growing global role for the group.
