Government's Big Decision: Vehicle Number Plates Now Display Hindi Registration Codes

Dehradun (The Uttam Hindu): Now the registration code on the number plate of cars running on the roads will be written in Hindi instead of English. On the lines of other states including Uttar Pradesh, this decision has been taken regarding the number plate of vehicles in Uttarakhand in the coming days.
According to Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, the Language Department has taken a new initiative towards marking the registration code of the Transport Department in the official language Hindi as well. Language Minister Subodh Uniyal has approved this proposal. On its implementation, the registration code on the number plate of vehicles will start with ‘उ ख’ in Hindi language instead of (UK). He said that in the light of Uttarakhand Official Language Act 2009, various government orders issued from time to time have emphasized the use of Hindi language in all government works. In this connection, this step is being taken in the Transport Department. He informed that in the state, the Transport Department has allotted registration codes to divisional and sub-divisional transport offices only in English language. Meanwhile, registration codes in Hindi language have been allotted to vehicles registered in other states including Uttar Pradesh.
