Haryana Gold Heist: 5 Kg Gold, Rs 14 Lakh Cash Stolen from Gold Loan Outlet

Charkhi Dadri(The Uttam Hindu): In a daring overnight robbery, thieves stole 5 kilograms of gold and ₹14 lakh in cash from a Manappuram gold loan branch located at Rohtak Chowk in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana. The incident occurred on Thursday night, just 200 meters from two nearby police stations, raising serious questions about local security. According to investigators, the robbers gained access to the safe deposit vault without using force or causing any visible damage — a sign of professional execution. Interestingly, they left behind 700 grams of fake gold that was under litigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and police have begun analyzing clues.
CCTV Disabled, Insiders Under Suspicion
Police sources indicated that the branch's CCTV system was disabled during the theft, with camera wires deliberately cut, further pointing to the possibility of insider involvement. The ease with which the safe was opened — without signs of tampering — has led authorities to suspect that the perpetrators had prior knowledge or assistance from someone within the organization.
Bank officials have reassured customers that they will not bear any financial losses from the robbery. All affected individuals will either have their pledged gold returned or be compensated with its full value.
Security Review Underway
Authorities are not only focusing on identifying the culprits but are also reviewing the security protocols of the branch to prevent future incidents. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining digital and physical records to trace the movements and identities of those involved. This incident adds to growing concerns about the safety of financial institutions and the need for robust internal and external security systems.
