Delhi Tragedy: Roof Collapse Near Humayun’s Tomb Kills Six, Several Injured

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A major accident occurred near Humayun’s Tomb in Nizamuddin, where the roof of a residential structure adjoining Dargah Sharif Patte Shah suddenly collapsed. The incident claimed the lives of six people, including three women, while several others sustained injuries.
According to the Fire Department, the roof of a single-storey, two-room house attached to the Dargah collapsed around 3:51 PM. Four fire engines and 25 fire personnel were rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
District Magistrate Sarvan Kumar informed the media that teams from the Fire Brigade, NDRF, and Delhi Police reached the site immediately and rescued the victims trapped under debris. They were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre and RML Hospital.
Among the deceased were Anita (56) from Jangpura and Moin (32) from Zakir Nagar. Anita’s son, Shivansh Saini, recalled receiving a call about his mother being injured in the collapse, only to later learn that she had died during treatment at AIIMS.
Officials said nearly 10 people were trapped under the rubble. While six succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital, four others are undergoing treatment. Reports suggest that many of the victims had come to the Dargah to meet the Imam for spiritual remedies at the time of the incident. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the cause of the collapse, while rescue and relief operations continue in the area.
