‘If No Justice, Throw My Ashes in Drain’: Engineer Dies by Suicide in UP Hotel
Etawah/Auraiya (The Uttam Hindu): Like Atul Subhash of Bengaluru, an engineer from Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel in Etawah. Before committing suicide, he made two videos viral on social media, in which he made serious allegations against his wife and in-laws like severe mental harassment, threats and attempts to usurp property. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Mohit Kumar alias Monu Yadav.
Monu Yadav, a resident of Purva Prasad village of Dibiyapur police station area of Auraiya, was an engineer in a cement company in Pune. These days he was at his home. He had to return to Pune on Friday, but he reached Etawah and took a room in a hotel in Railway Station Bajaria area. From here, just before committing suicide, he made two videos of one minute each and posted them on social media. After this, he ended his life by hanging himself with a bedsheet in the hotel room. His death came to light on Saturday.
In the viral video, Monu Yadav has alleged that after getting a job as a teacher in the education department in Samastipur district of Bihar, his wife Priya Yadav (resident of Mainpuri) was constantly pressuring him to come and live there. When he refused, his wife, her mother and father threatened to implicate him in a false case of dowry harassment. Monu alleges that his wife also pressured him to get the house and other property transferred in her name. He also said that his wife had also got an abortion done without his knowledge. According to Monu, he was fed up with the daily mental torture and hence is taking this step.
In the video, he also gave an emotional message while addressing his parents. He said that if he does not get justice even after his death, then his ashes should be immersed in the drain instead of the Ganga. The police has taken cognizance of the viral video and started investigating the matter. However, your own newspaper Hindustan does not confirm the authenticity of the viral video.
Monu and Mainpuri resident Priya Yadav got married two years ago as a love marriage, although they were in a relationship for seven years before marriage. In the video, Mohit said that the dispute increased only after Priya got a job in Bihar. He was threatened of being falsely implicated and Priya's family members were also involved in this. He also alleged that his brother-in-law once threatened to kill him over the phone.
On hearing the news of son Monu's death, there was chaos among the family members in Auraiya. On being informed by the police, the family members reached Etawah. After the post-mortem, the body was brought to Kanchhausi on Saturday evening, where the last rites were performed in a sad atmosphere. The police is now investigating the case in depth on the basis of the allegations made in the suicide video.
