Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): Himachal Pradesh is expected to witness a fresh spell of rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the next few days, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue alerts for several districts.

According to the latest update, light to moderate rainfall was recorded across most parts of the state in the past 24 hours. Hailstorm activity was also reported in select regions. Bilaspur received the highest rainfall at 74 mm, followed by Kandaghat in Solan district.

Weather forecasts indicate that light to moderate rain will continue in the plains and mid-hill regions from May 5 to May 8. Higher altitudes may receive snowfall during this period. A warning has been issued for possible thunderstorms and strong winds, particularly in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur, from May 5 to May 9.

In addition, hailstorm activity is likely at isolated places in Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, and Kangra districts. Due to these anticipated conditions, the Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for May 5 and 6.

Weather activity is expected to decrease after May 9. However, light rainfall may still occur in mid-hill districts such as Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla on May 10 and 11.

Authorities have urged residents and tourists to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas during this period.
