The temperature in major areas of Delhi has reached dangerous levels, with Aya Nagar recording the highest temperature of 45.3 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Heatwave Conditions

The IMD has clarified that the heatwave conditions will continue in Delhi till Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with temperatures ranging between 44 to 45 degrees Celsius. Citizens are advised to avoid going out during the afternoon when the effect of hot winds, or 'loo', is the highest.

Relief Expected

However, relief is expected by the weekend, with a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, which may lead to a drop in temperature.

Health Precautions

To avoid heatstroke, citizens are advised to:

1. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water

2. Dress wisely: Wear light, loose, and cotton clothes

3. Protect yourself: Cover your head and wear glasses when going out in the sun

4. Take care of vulnerable groups: Special care should be taken for children, elderly, and sick people
