Ranchi (The Uttam Hindu): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a major attack on the central government over the Pahalgam terrorist attack. He has claimed that just three days before the attack, an intelligence report was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after which he cancelled his Kashmir visit.

Addressing the 'Samvidhan Bachao Rally' in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, Mallikarjun Kharge termed the Pahalgam attack as an intelligence failure. He said, the government has acknowledged it and they will solve it. But, if they knew it, why did they not do anything? He further said, "I have received information that 3 days before the attack, an intelligence report was sent to Prime Minister Modi and so he cancelled his program to visit Kashmir. I also read this in a newspaper.

Kharge asked a direct question to Prime Minister Modi and said that when the intelligence told you that it is not right to go there for your safety, then why did you not tell this to the border force and police there for the safety of the common people? He also asked the central government that why more security personnel were not deployed in Pahalgam despite the intelligence report.

The Congress president stressed that when the Centre has admitted intelligence failure, should it not be held accountable for the deaths in the Pahalgam attack? However, he also clarified that the Congress party is fully with the government in this fight against terrorism and Pakistan. He said that if the government takes any action against Pakistan, the Congress stands with them.
