New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Tension along the India-Pakistan border has peaked, with Pakistan launching a second consecutive day of aerial attacks on multiple Indian cities. The Indian Army responded firmly, neutralizing a series of drone and missile threats from Jammu-Srinagar to Pathankot and Pokhran. As a precaution, India has temporarily shut down 32 airports across the country till May 14.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level meeting in the capital with the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), to assess the situation. Following the review, the Indian Army and Ministry of External Affairs addressed a joint press briefing, stating that India is responding to Pakistan "in its own language."

According to official statements, Pakistan used heavy and long-range weapons, drones, and even attempted to use civilian aircraft as shields during the intrusions. Indian forces struck back by targeting four key Pakistani airbases in a calibrated counter-offensive. A video of the action taken was released by the Indian Army to expose Pakistan’s false narratives.

Colonel Sofia Qureshi, representing the Army during the briefing, disclosed that Pakistan carried out air intrusions at over 26 locations. “They used drones, combat aircraft, and high-speed missiles to strike Indian military installations,” she said, confirming damages at air force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda. She further alleged that Pakistan even targeted schools and healthcare facilities in their attacks.

The situation remains tense, with the Indian armed forces maintaining high alert along the western front.
