Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) P-North Ward has issued a show cause notice to actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty regarding illegal construction in Erangal village in Malad, Mumbai. This notice was issued on May 10, in which illegal construction has been cited under various sections of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act.

The BMC alleges that two structures with ground-plus-mezzanine floors, a ground floor structure and three temporary units have been constructed without permission. These units have used bricks, wooden planks, glass walls and AC sheet roofs, which is a violation of rules.

BMC has warned that if a satisfactory reply is not received, legal action and demolition of the structure will be taken under section 475A. After receiving the notice from BMC, actor Mithun Chakraborty reacted and said, "I have not done any illegal construction. Notices have been sent to many people and we are sending our reply."

At the same time, social activist Nadeem Sheikh has raised the question that when 24 illegal structures were demolished recently, why was Mithun Chakraborty's construction left out? BMC says that a total of 101 illegal structures will be demolished in Erangal and surrounding areas by the end of May.

This is not the first time Mithun Chakraborty has received such a notice. In 2011 too, BMC had issued a similar notice against him. BMC has been taking action against illegal construction in Mumbai for many days. Let us tell you, actor Mithun Chakraborty has many luxurious bungalows, hotels and lands. Apart from Mumbai and Kolkata, he also has a luxurious farmhouse in Ooty.
