Mohammed Shami Gets Death Threat: Extortion Email Demands Huge Ransom

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian cricket team's fast bowler Mohammed Shami has received a death threat. He received an email on Sunday (May 4) in which a huge amount of Rs 1 crore has been demanded from him. The email warns that if this amount is not given, he will be killed. After receiving information about this serious matter, the police has come into action and started investigation.
According to media reports, this threatening email clearly demands Rs 1 crore and if the money is not paid, a direct threat of murder is given. According to the report, this email has been sent from a handle named 'Rajput Sindhar', in which the name of the sender is said to be Prabhakar. This email was received on Sunday around 2-3 pm.
After seeing the email, Mohammad Shami's brother Mohammad Hasib immediately understood the seriousness of the matter and informed the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Amroha. Mohammad Hasib has lodged a written complaint with the Amroha police in this regard and has demanded strict legal action against the people involved in this matter.
After receiving the complaint, Amroha police took immediate action and registered a case in the cyber cell. The police is now deeply investigating the case of this death threat sent to Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami through email. The police is trying to find out the real identity of the person who sent the email and the motive behind it.
It is worth noting that Mohammed Shami is currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. It is also worth mentioning that earlier Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir had also received similar threatening emails.
Mohammed Shami recently made a comeback to the Indian team through the Champions Trophy after being away from the game for a long time due to surgery after the ODI World Cup 2023. He performed brilliantly in the Champions Trophy, taking 9 wickets in five matches and was the joint-highest wicket-taker for India. Sunrisers Hyderabad included him in their team in the mega auction of IPL 2025.
