Newborn's body found trapped in toilet, freed after 8-hour ordeal

Chhindwara (The Uttam Hindu): An incident that shames humanity has come to light from Parasia Civil Hospital in Chhindwara district. The body of a newborn baby was found trapped in the commode of the hospital's women's restroom. The situation was so complex that the police and administration struggled for nearly eight hours to remove the body. Ultimately, the newborn's body was removed only after the commode was broken.
The incident came to light when the hospital's female cleaning staff arrived to clean the restroom as usual at around 12:30 p.m. Later, when she returned to clean, she noticed that the water in the commode wasn't draining. Upon closer inspection, she saw the hand and head of a newborn inside the commode. She was stunned by this and immediately informed the hospital management. The management, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, immediately informed the police.
Dr. Sudha Bakshi, BMO in charge of the Parasia Community Health Center, said that the staff nurse had expressed concern that the women's restroom was running dry and something was stuck. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that a newborn was trapped. Police, hospital staff, and municipal employees then began efforts to retrieve the body. The body was badly stuck in the commode, and it took the rescue team approximately six to seven hours to remove it.
After considerable effort, the body of the newborn was recovered by breaking open the commode at around 8 pm on Tuesday night. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. They are now trying to determine who dumped the newborn there and under what circumstances.
