Omar Abdullah Meets PM Modi 11 Days After Pahalgam Attack

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached Delhi today and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is believed to be the first formal meeting between the two leaders after the recent horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence lasted for about 20 minutes.
According to sources, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah apprised Prime Minister Modi of the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the situation after the Pahalgam attack. The concerns of the local people, measures to ensure the safety of tourists and the steps taken by the state government against terrorism were discussed in detail in the meeting.
It is being told that the Chief Minister gave detailed information to the Prime Minister about the efforts made by the state government like arresting Over Ground Workers (OGW), raids on suspicious locations and dialogue with local communities.
This meeting has taken place at a time when questions are being raised once again about security and political stability in the valley. This meeting of the Chief Minister with the Prime Minister is not only symbolically important, but it also reflects the cooperation and coordination between the central and state government.
According to sources, Omar Abdullah also discussed with the Prime Minister development-related issues like promoting economic activities in Jammu and Kashmir, making the tourism sector more secure and increasing employment opportunities for local youth.
However, no official statement has yet been issued by the Chief Minister regarding the specific issues discussed in the meeting with the Prime Minister. Officially, only the meeting of the two leaders has been confirmed.
It is noteworthy that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, but he could not meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, 11 days after the attack, the Chief Minister reached Delhi and met the Prime Minister.
