Pahalgam Attack: Jaishankar Vows Action After Talks with US Secretary of State

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has spoken to his American counterpart Marco Rubio. He gave this information on social media post X. According to which India is committed to punish the conspirators and attackers of this attack.
Jaishankar and Rubio talked about the increased tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Giving information about this in the post, the Foreign Minister wrote, "Discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio yesterday. Its perpetrators, supporters and planners must be brought to justice."
A statement issued by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce gave details of the conversation. Rubio reiterated the United States' commitment to cooperate with India against terrorism. He appealed to India to continue the war against terror as well as work to reduce tensions and maintain peace and security in South Asia.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the phone on Wednesday. In a conversation with Jaishankar, Rubio expressed grief for those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. 26 unarmed people were killed in the terror attack.
On the other hand, the Pakistani Prime Minister's Office in Islamabad said that Sharif apprised the US Secretary of State of Pakistan's view on the recent developments in South Asia. Pakistan raised the issue of India's cancellation of the Indus Water Treaty and said that this is a matter related to the lifeline of 24 crore people.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce also gave details of the conversation with Pakistan. She said, "The Foreign Secretary condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The two leaders then reaffirmed their continued commitment to holding terrorists accountable for their heinous violence."
"The Secretary called on Pakistani authorities to cooperate with the investigation into this inhumane attack. He encouraged Pakistan to work with India to reduce tensions, re-establish direct communications, and maintain peace and security in South Asia," the statement said.
