Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): There is an atmosphere of celebration in India after the success of the Indian Army's air strike 'Operation Sindoor' after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. On the other hand, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has admitted for the first time that the Indian Army had carried out an air strike on the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi on the night of 9-10 May. The Indian Army had carried out missile attacks on several Pakistani airbases in the air strike.

Sharif made this statement during his speech at a grand ceremony called "Youm-e-Tashakur" (Thanksgiving). During the ceremony held at the iconic landmark "The Monument" in Islamabad, the Pakistan Prime Minister detailed the series of events and said that after this we expressed our response to India. In his address, the Pak PM accepted India's claim about the Indian missile attack on the Noor Khan airbase.

Sharif said, "On the night of 9 and 10 May, at around 2:30 am, the army chief called me and told me that India had attacked us with its ballistic missiles. One missile fell on the Noor Khan airbase and some other missiles fell in other areas." He said that Army Chief General Asim Munir had sought permission to respond with full force to the air strike carried out by India. After India's air strike, Pakistan attacked through drones and missile attacks. The Pakistani Prime Minister's speech also highlighted the call for peace talks.

He said, "I am very grateful to all the friendly countries who have been very helpful in promoting peace and ceasefire in this part of the world." Sharif thanked Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Iran, Turkey, China, Britain and other countries for helping in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan.

He specially praised US President Donald Trump for intervening at the last minute of the crisis. The Pak PM said, "I would like to thank President Trump for his leadership, and also for his vision that peace should be restored in South Asia as soon as possible. His path-breaking and strategic leadership worked and averted a deadly war between the two countries."
