Pakistan in panic: ISI chief Asim Malik appointed as NSA, decision taken in haste amid tension with India : According to a report, Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik has been appointed as the country's new National Security Advisor (NSA). Malik was made the head of ISI in September 2024 and has now been given the additional charge of NSA.

Before becoming the head of ISI, Asim Malik has also served as Adjutant General at the headquarters of the Pakistan Army, where he oversaw military administrative matters, including legal and disciplinary matters. During his tenure as Adjutant General, some major events also took place in Pakistan, including the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and subsequent protests by his supporters and party workers.

During his career, Asim Malik has also commanded divisions in Balochistan and South Waziristan. Both these areas have been posing huge security challenges to Pakistan. The Pakistan government has appointed Malik at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have increased a lot after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in this attack.
