Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): The Pakistani army opened fire at several locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, to which the Indian Army responded effectively. The Indian Army stated, "The Pakistani army fired small arms at some locations along the LoC. The Indian Army responded effectively. There were no casualties. Further information is being gathered." It is worth noting that tensions between the two countries have reached a new level following the brutal killing of 26 civilians by terrorists.

In his first reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the terrorists, their handlers, and supporters will be pursued and avenged, no matter where in the world they are. The large-scale anti-terror operation continued for the fourth consecutive day in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam to track down and locate the terrorists responsible for the civilian killings.

In other anti-terror operations, a soldier was martyred during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur district on Thursday. The army reported that a joint operation was launched in Basantgarh (Udhampur) along with Jammu and Kashmir Police based on specific intelligence. Contact was established, and intense firing followed. In the initial encounter, one of our brave soldiers sustained severe injuries and later succumbed despite the best medical efforts. "The operation is ongoing."

On Thursday, another encounter began between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam district. The operation against the terrorists started with an exchange of fire, though there have been no reports of firing since Friday morning. Security forces also launched another operation against terrorists in Poonch district on Thursday. In addition to the large-scale anti-terror operation in the Pahalgam region to locate the terrorists responsible for the Baisaran massacre, three other operations are currently underway.
