Islamabad/New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has successfully test-fired its surface-to-surface Abdali missile, with a range of 450 km, amid heightened tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack. The launch was part of "Exercise INDUS," according to the Pakistan army. The army stated that the launch aimed to ensure operational readiness of troops and validate key technical parameters, including the missile's advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability features.

The training launch was witnessed by senior officials, including the Commander Army Strategic Forces Command and scientists and engineers from Pakistan's strategic organisations. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and services chiefs congratulated the participating troops, scientists and engineers, expressing confidence in Pakistan's Strategic Forces' operational preparedness and technical proficiency.

The successful test launch demonstrates Pakistan's commitment to maintaining credible minimum deterrence and safeguarding national security against any aggression. The exercise highlights the country's focus on enhancing its military capabilities and preparedness.
