Bathinda (The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic incident connected to India’s alleged counter-operation ‘Operation Sindoor’ following the Pahalgam terror attack, a plane crashed in a wheat field in Bathinda district of Punjab, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to nine others. The crash site, located near Akalia Kalan village in Goniana Mandi, is about 500 meters away from a residential area.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m., when the plane reportedly fell into the fields and caught fire. Emergency services rushed to the spot, sealing off the area. Police established strict perimeter control, preventing media and civilians from entering within 2 kilometers of the crash site. The identity of the aircraft, its origin and the pilot remain unknown at this time.

Eyewitness video footage shows a blazing wreckage in the fields, with one person heard confirming that an aircraft crashed and exploded when locals attempted to approach. Fire brigade personnel were seen working to douse the flames.


According to the Senior Medical Officer of Goniana Mandi Hospital, the facility received 10 patients, one of whom was already deceased upon arrival. Two critically injured individuals were transferred to Bathinda Civil Hospital, while others were given initial treatment and referred to nearby facilities. The deceased was part of a group that had come to work in grain loading at a local mandi.

Authorities have kept the injured under tight security, with police deployed outside hospitals and no visitors allowed. So far, there has been no official statement from the police or administration confirming the aircraft’s origin, ownership or link to the ongoing military operation.
