Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that according to the data, they (Haryana) had used their share of water by 31 March. Still we are providing them drinking water. They will get water till the night of 20 May. They will have to bear the brunt of their mistake for 15 days. Mann said that we wrote six letters to them. There were meetings every month and we used to write to them every month that this time their share of water will be exhausted, yet they did not pay any attention. Punjab has repealed the Dam Safety Act.

The conduct of BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) is dictatorial, it has been strongly opposed. Therefore, BBMB should be reorganized. During the special session of the Punjab Assembly called regarding the ongoing water dispute between Punjab and Haryana, several resolutions were passed unanimously. It was said that Punjab will not give even a drop of water from its share to Haryana. 4 thousand cusecs of water is being given on humanitarian grounds, this will be continued. How much water is to be given to which state from Bhakra Dam is written in the 1981 Water Treaty. BBMB does not have the right to change it. The Central Government should withdraw the proposal of Dam Safety Act-2021. The Punjab Government does not accept this Act.
