Bengaluru(The Uttam Hindu): The excitement surrounding RCB’s historic first IPL title win in 2025 quickly turned tragic on Wednesday when a stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium resulted in 11 fatalities and left 33 others injured. Fans had gathered in huge numbers to celebrate and welcome the players when chaos suddenly broke out.

Activist Snehamayi Krishna took action by filing a police complaint at Cubbon Park station against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, and officials from the cricket board. She accused them of serious negligence and is calling for accountability under IPC Section 106.

Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene, with one stating, “anyone who fell down didn’t get back up.” There were delays in ambulance response, and bystanders were seen performing CPR on the streets. Medical professionals reported severe injuries to the head, spine, and abdomen among the deceased, who ranged in age from 13 to 33.

During a press conference, CM Siddaramaiah acknowledged the tragedy but drew comparisons to past stampedes, such as those at the Kumbh Mela. The opposition BJP has since demanded his resignation, labeling the incident a failure of government and a moral crisis.
