New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are under the scanner of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with a ₹60 crore fraud case. Recently, Shilpa was questioned at her residence for five hours, and now Raj Kundra’s statement has come to light, revealing that demonetization pushed their family into debt.

During questioning, Raj Kundra told the EOW that the demonetization move in India caused heavy losses to his electrical and household appliances business, which left him unable to repay the ₹60 crore owed. Officials confirmed that this was Kundra’s second interrogation, and he is expected to be summoned again in the coming weeks.

Earlier, the Bombay Court had made strict remarks regarding the case. Shilpa’s lawyers requested permission to travel to Colombo for an event, but the court insisted that the fraud repayment comes first. The court clarified that the actress cannot leave the country until the case is resolved. The next hearing is scheduled for October 14. During investigations, Raj Kundra also mentioned paying Bipasha Basu, Neha Dhupia, and Ekta Kapoor professionally in connection with the case.

Amid this legal turmoil, Shilpa and Raj Kundra shared festive glimpses of Karwa Chauth on social media. Shilpa showcased intricate mehndi designs featuring tiny lotus flowers on her hands and feet. In another video, she gave fans a peek at her Sargi spread, which included dates and an assortment of sweets — following the traditional Brahma Muhurat Sargi custom in Punjab, where elder women serve the pre-dawn meal.
