Social Media Misinformation: Fake Imran Khan Report Raises Timeline Red Flags

Pakistan (The Uttam Hindu): A fabricated document circulating on social media has falsely claimed that former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was sexually assaulted while in custody. The report, which appeared to originate from the Pak Emirates Military Hospital (PEMH) in Rawalpindi, has been categorically denied by Pakistani officials and debunked by fact-checkers.
According to verified government sources, Khan’s medical evaluation was conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, not PEMH as claimed in the viral document.
The controversy erupted after a user on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared the alleged report on May 2, 2025—despite the document being dated May 3, 2025. The discrepancy in the dates immediately raised suspicions about the authenticity of the report, prompting a swift response from government officials and independent fact-checking organizations.
Authorities have dismissed the viral report as fake and politically motivated. Investigations are reportedly underway to trace the source of the forged document and take legal action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
