Relief From the Heat Soon: Monsoon Set to Arrive With Heavy Rain in 4-5 Days

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Good news is on the horizon for those eagerly awaiting relief from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala within the next four to five days—well ahead of the usual onset date of June 1.
Previously, the IMD had predicted the monsoon's arrival in Kerala by May 27. If it arrives as expected, this would mark the earliest onset of the monsoon since 2009, when it began on May 23. May has seen unusual weather patterns across India, with several states experiencing frequent rain and dust storms. According to IMD data, an early onset this year could make it the earliest arrival of the monsoon over the Indian mainland in over 15 years. Typically, the southwest monsoon reaches Kerala around June 1 and spreads across the entire country by July 8.
