Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have clinched their first-ever IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final match of IPL 2025. The historic clash was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday. After losing the toss, RCB opted to bat first and posted 190 runs for 9 wickets. Virat Kohli top-scored for the team with 43 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson were the pick of the bowlers for Punjab Kings, taking 3 wickets each.

RCB had previously reached the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but failed to secure the trophy. This time, they broke the jinx and lifted the trophy with pride.

Winning the IPL 2025 title brought major financial rewards for RCB, as the team received ₹20 crore in prize money. Punjab Kings, who reached the final for the second time, ended up as runners-up and earned ₹12.5 crore.

Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans were the other two teams that qualified for the playoffs. Mumbai reached Qualifier 2 and received ₹7 crore, while Gujarat, who lost the Eliminator, was awarded ₹6.5 crore. Mumbai's veteran batter Suryakumar Yadav was named Most Valuable Player of the season and received ₹10 lakh.

Gujarat Titans' top-order batter B. Sai Sudharsan emerged as the Orange Cap winner with 759 runs and was also named Emerging Player of the Season. He earned ₹10 lakh for each award. His teammate Prasidh Krishna bagged the Purple Cap with 25 wickets and also received ₹10 lakh. Kamindu Mendis won ₹10 lakh for the Best Catch of the Season, while Nicholas Pooran (Most Sixes) and Sai Sudharsan (Fantasy Player of the Season) also bagged ₹10 lakh each.
