Jhansi (The Uttam Hindu): A strange confluence of faith and crime has been witnessed in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. A thief first broke into a temple and stole the goddess's jewelry, then, before leaving, folded his hands and begged forgiveness from the goddess in the sanctum sanctorum. The entire theft was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the temple, and the video is now rapidly going viral on social media.

The case of the Badi Mata Temple in Garautha

The incident took place at the famous 'Badi Mata Temple' located on the Garautha-Madhan Road in the Garautha area of Jhansi. Taking advantage of the darkness on Saturday night, an unknown thief targeted the temple. The thief first broke the lock of the main gate of the temple and entered inside. After this, he removed the precious jewellery placed on the idol of Mata. In the morning, when the devotees arrived for worship as usual, they were stunned by the scene there. Seeing the broken lock and the disarranged items, the police was immediately informed.

The thief was seen in a blue hoodie and saluted while leaving

When the police examined the temple's CCTV footage, the thief's actions were clearly visible. The video shows a young man wearing a blue hoodie and a cap. He enters the temple, searches each idol one by one, removes the warm clothing covering them, and steals the jewelry.

The most shocking scene occurred when the young man, after committing the theft, began to leave. The footage clearly shows that just before leaving the temple, he paused and folded his hands twice before God, as if asking for forgiveness for his sin.

Police are searching for the thief

This video has now become a topic of discussion throughout the area. People are questioning whether asking God for forgiveness after committing a crime truly absolves one's sins. Meanwhile, the Garautha police station in-charge stated that the police have obtained CCTV footage of the theft at the temple. However, no written complaint has yet been filed by the temple management or any other party. Only after receiving a complaint will an accurate assessment of the value of the stolen goods be possible. Currently, the police are working to identify and search for the young man wearing a hoodie based on the viral video.
