Trump Backpedals on India-Pakistan Ceasefire Claim, Says He Just Helped, Didn’t Mediate

California(The Uttam Hindu):U.S. President Donald Trump, who previously claimed credit for brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, backtracked on his statement during a visit to Qatar. He clarified, “I didn’t mediate, I just helped.”
Trump emphasized, “I’m not saying I did it, but it’s certain that I helped settle the situation last week between India and Pakistan. It could have gotten much worse, with both countries firing missiles. We settled it.”
He further stated, "I hope I don’t leave here and two days later hear the issue isn’t resolved, but it is. I spoke to both sides about trade, urging them to focus on business rather than war. Pakistan and India were both happy with this approach.”
Trump acknowledged the long-standing conflict, adding, “They’ve been fighting for over 1,000 years. I said I could bring them to an agreement—and I did. I wasn’t confident it would work, but I stepped in because the situation was getting out of control."
