Similar to Ahmedabad: Boeing Plane's Engine Fails in US, Pilot Declares Mayday

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the Boeing plane crash in Ahmedabad, a similar incident occurred in America, where the engine of the 787-8 Dreamliner failed as soon as it took off. After this, the pilot had to declare a mayday and there was panic in the plane.
The incident happened last week when United Airlines flight UA108 was flying from Washington Dulles Airport on July 25 for a transatlantic flight when its left engine failed and the pilot had to declare a mayday. As soon as the flight took off from Washington Dulles and reached an altitude of 5 thousand feet, the engine failure was reported shortly after. The crew immediately declared an emergency and worked closely with air traffic controllers to make a safe emergency landing. According to data from FlightAware, the flight remained in the air for two hours and 38 minutes and circled northwest of Washington to safely drain fuel. After this, the flight was able to land safely. During this time, the pilots of the flight maintained an altitude of 6 thousand feet to control the weight of the aircraft and continuously requested ATC for fuel dumping.
After the fuel dumping was complete, the pilots sought permission to land on runway 19 center using the Instrument Landing System (ILS). After landing, the Boeing plane could not move forward on its own, it had to be towed off the runway. The plane remained at Washington Dulles Airport until Monday. However, there is no news of any casualties in this incident.
