US Vice President JD Vance Arrives in India, Gets Guard of Honour

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): US Vice President JD Vance arrived in New Delhi on Monday on his first official visit to India. Vance's plane landed at Palam Airport on Monday morning. During this, the Vice President was accompanied by his wife Usha Vance, children and senior members of the US administration.
US Vice President JD Vance's plane landed at Delhi's Palam Airport at 9:45 am. Here he was welcomed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He got down from the plane with his wife Usha. Vance was also honored with a guard of honor.
Artists also demonstrated Indian dance skills at the airport. Vance's children Ivan, Vivek and Mirabel were dressed in Indian attire. All three were seen watching the classical dance with great enthusiasm.
Vance is scheduled to visit the Akshardham Temple from the airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the US Vice President in the evening. Apart from this, he (JD Vance) will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host Vice President Vance at his official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on Monday evening. The meeting will discuss the India-US trade deal as well as ways to deepen strategic and economic ties between the two democratic countries.
This is the Vice President's first visit to India and it is expected that important trade agreements can be negotiated between the two countries. The Vice President is going to meet the Prime Minister, which will be their second bilateral meeting. The first meeting took place during the AI summit in Paris in February.
Vance is the first US Vice President to visit India in 13 years. This visit is special because no sitting US Vice President has visited India in the last decade. Earlier in February 2013, then Vice President and later President Joe Biden visited India.
