Wedding turns to tragedy: Groom hangs self over DJ row, village mourns

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On Sunday, the joyous atmosphere in a village in the Nuh district, adjacent to Delhi, turned to mourning when the groom hanged himself just before the wedding procession was to depart. A dispute over DJ playing is believed to be the main reason behind this heartbreaking incident. The house from where the son's wedding procession was to depart is now shrouded in mourning.

According to Fatela, a member of the Sarpanch family, the young man's wedding was on Sunday, and he had brought a DJ to the village on Saturday as part of the wedding preparations. However, some elders and enlightened people in the village objected to the DJ playing, calling it a social evil. After a lengthy discussion, the villagers allowed the DJ to play for only one hour for the rituals. The DJ played for the allotted time, and afterward, the groom was also given mehndi, but it is reported that the young man was unhappy with this. He wanted the DJ to play for a longer time, which was not agreed upon. However, no major quarrel or dispute arose over this on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning, while the family was busy preparing for the wedding procession, the groom left the house early. Shortly afterward, the family received information that his body was hanging from an electric pole outside the village. He had ended his life by hanging himself from the electric pole. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. The deceased's family does not suspect anyone of murder or incitement. The police conducted a post-mortem and handed over the body to the family.
