Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The administration of Donald Trump has launched new trade investigations under Section 301 against 16 countries, including India and China, as part of its strategy to protect the interests of the United States in global trade. The probe will examine whether these countries are giving unfair advantages to their industries through subsidies, cheap production and other policies. If violations are found, Washington could impose new tariffs on their exports to the US. Officials said the investigation will be completed before July, when the current temporary tariffs expire. The move could impact emerging economies like India if new duties are imposed on their products.
