New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): If you are planning to go to the bank for some important work this week, then before leaving home, definitely check the list of holidays. In the month of March, many big festivals like Navratri, Eid, Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti are falling together, due to which banks will remain closed in different states of the country. According to the holiday calendar of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), holidays are not observed simultaneously across the country, rather many holidays are decided according to local festivals and states. In such a situation, it is very important to know on which days the bank branch of your city will remain open and on which days it will remain closed.

There will be no work in these areas today on 17 March

According to the Reserve Bank of India's bank holiday list, banks will be closed in certain parts of the country today, Tuesday, March 17, on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr. According to the RBI calendar, bank branches will remain closed and operations will be halted, primarily in the Jammu and Srinagar regions. However, in all other states and cities across the country, banks will remain open as usual, allowing customers to complete their necessary work.

When and where will banks remain closed this entire week?

Banking services will be continuously affected in many states this week due to a series of festivals. Banks will be closed in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Manipur on Thursday, March 19th, to celebrate Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, and the first day of Navratri. The following day, on Friday, March 20th, banks will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, and some areas of Andhra Pradesh due to Eid al-Fitr and Jamaat-ul-Vida. Despite March 21st being the third Saturday of the month, banks will be closed in several major states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal, due to Eid al-Fitr and Sarhul. Banks may remain open in places like Kochi and Shimla. Following this, banks will observe a weekly holiday across the country on Sunday, March 22nd.

There are plenty of holidays in the last days of March too

The last week of March is also full of holidays. Banks will remain closed in many major states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi on March 26 due to Ram Navami. Following this, a bank holiday has been declared in states like Bihar, Odisha and Sikkim on March 27 on the occasion of Ram Navami (Chaite Dashain). Banks will remain closed for two consecutive days across the country as March 28 is the fourth Saturday of the month and March 29 is Sunday. On the last day of the month i.e. March 31, on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, banking services will remain completely closed in many states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar.

Even if the bank is closed, these works of the customers will not stop

While bank branches may be closed during the holiday, customers need not panic. Your digital banking services will remain operational 24/7. You can freely use UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking to send money or make bill payments. ATM services will also remain operational for cash withdrawals. However, if you need to complete important tasks like check clearing, cash deposits, demand drafts, or KYC updates, you will have to wait for the bank to reopen.
