Budget EV Alert: New Electric Car to Compete with Tiago and Comet in India

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Many new electric cars are set to be launched in India this year. Companies are now also focusing on affordable electric vehicles. According to media reports, Renault India may soon launch an affordable electric car in the Indian market, which could be an electric version of the Kwid.
Recently Renault Kwid EV has been seen during testing. After launch, this car will compete with affordable electric cars like Tata Tiago EV and JSW MG Comet EV. It is expected that Kwid EV can also prove to be the cheapest electric car in the Indian market. However, Renault has not yet officially revealed the specifications of Kwid EV, but it is believed that it will be launched by the end of this year.
This is not the first time the Kwid EV has been spotted testing, but new reports have revealed some details about its design. Earlier this month, a full spy image of the EV was revealed, and now its rear design has been revealed. It has a clean rear design with Y-shaped tail lamps. The EV spotted could be the entry-level variant, as it has been seen with steel wheels.
Many modern features can be included in the Kwid EV, including a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch fully digital driver display, a height-adjustable steering wheel and an e-shift gear lever. Additionally, it can also get the facility of wireless smartphone mirroring, which will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This car also has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which will allow other electronic devices to be charged. The Kwid EV will get two USB charging ports and 308 liters of boot space. As an accessory, an optional 35-liter front trunk (frunk) can also be available, which will further increase the storage capacity.
Like the Dacia Spring EV available in the international market, the Kwid EV can be given a 26.8 kWh battery. It is expected to come in two variants: Electric 45 and Electric 65. The Electric 45 model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 19.1 seconds and has a maximum speed of 78 kmph. At the same time, the top model Electric 65 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 13.7 seconds and has a top speed of 78 kmph. Both EV variants can give a range of about 225 kilometers on a single charge. This car can be charged from 20% to 100% in less than 5 hours.
