BYD's luxury brand Denza coming to India, to bring 800km-range MPV and 270 km/h supercar

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Luxury and electric vehicle enthusiasts in India have a new development to look forward to, with BYD's premium brand Denza officially announcing its entry into the Indian market. Denza has released its first India teaser, confirming that the luxury brand will be introduced in the country. The brand is expected to be positioned above BYD's existing lineup, with its own premium retail network. Denza's India launch is expected to initially feature the D9 MPV and Z9 GT.

Two flagship models to arrive as CBUs, Denza D9 to take on luxury MPVs

Denza is expected to bring two key models to India initially—the seven-seat D9 MPV and the high-performance Z9 GT shooting brake. Both models are expected to be imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs) in the initial phase. The D9 will compete in India's premium MPV space against models such as the Toyota Vellfire and other luxury people-movers.

Denza D9 offers a premium cabin and long-range powertrain options

The Denza D9 is a large seven-seat luxury MPV designed with a spacious cabin and a range of premium features. Its international specification includes a large central infotainment display, digital driver instrumentation and dedicated features for rear passengers.

The D9 is available in different powertrain configurations depending on the market. BYD's official international specification for the D9 DM-i quotes up to 210km of WLTP pure-electric range and a combined range of up to 950km with a full battery and fuel tank. The exact India-specification battery, powertrain and range are yet to be confirmed.

Denza Z9 GT accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds

The Denza Z9 GT is a high-performance electric shooting brake with a triple-motor setup. It features a 17.3-inch central infotainment display along with additional digital displays. Its EV version can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, according to BYD.

The Z9 GT's triple-motor EV powertrain produces more than 1,150PS, while BYD has highlighted its high-performance capabilities and advanced chassis technology. The India-specification version, including its final battery, output and top-speed figures, will be confirmed closer to launch.
