New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A major negligence by Indian Railways has come to light, where an additional AC coach was not added to the Nizamuddin-Yeshwantpur Sampark Kranti Express train despite bookings being available. This serious lapse forced 51 AC passengers to travel the nearly three-hour journey from Nizamuddin to Gwalior without an air-conditioned (AC) coach.

According to reports, 51 passengers, upset by the lack of AC coaches on the Sampark Kranti Express, were accommodated in separate ordinary coaches. Gwalior was the train's first stop after Nizamuddin.

Upon reaching Gwalior, passengers, enraged by the uncomfortable three-hour journey, complained to railway officials and created a ruckus. Following the passengers' complaints and uproar, the railway administration swung into action.

Following the complaint, a special AC coach was added to the train in Gwalior, bringing relief to passengers. The entire incident caused significant inconvenience to passengers for three hours.

Given the seriousness of the matter, Northern Railway has ordered an investigation into the lapse. Northern Railway CPRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay stated that an inquiry has been ordered into why an AC coach was not added to the Yeshwantpur Sampark Kranti. He added that strict action will be taken against the concerned officials and employees if found guilty.
