Even After Huge Discounts, These 5 Cars Didn’t Sell a Single Unit in September

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the new GST rates came into effect on September 22, 2025, the Indian automobile market saw renewed activity. However, some vehicles are still struggling to find buyers. While popular models witnessed a surge in sales, five models from major companies like Maruti Suzuki, Nissan, Kia, and Citroën failed to sell even a single unit in September 2025.
This report highlights models that have become a burden for companies and dealerships due to high prices, limited availability, or changing market preferences.
1. Kia EV6
Kia launched the facelifted version of its premium electric SUV, EV6, in March 2025 at ₹65.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Imported directly via the CBU route, the vehicle is being offered with heavy discounts, but its high price and availability in only one variant (AWD) are keeping customers away. As a result, it recorded zero sales in September.
2. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
Production of this popular sedan was discontinued in March 2025, but dealerships still have stock. Declining demand for sedans in India affected the Ciaz, and it failed to find a single buyer in September. The model is now on the verge of becoming a part of automotive history.
3. Nissan X-Trail
The premium SUV was launched at a hefty ₹49.92 lakh. Imported via the CBU route in limited numbers (only 150 units), the X-Trail never managed to establish a foothold in the market. Even with discounts exceeding ₹20 lakh at some dealerships earlier this year, it recorded zero sales in September.
4. Kia EV9
Kia’s most expensive electric SUV, priced at ₹1.30 crore (ex-showroom), also failed to attract buyers. Imported directly, the high taxes further increased its cost. In this segment, customers generally prefer established luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi, leaving the EV9 sitting idle in showrooms.
5. Citroën C5 Aircross
The French automaker’s SUV suffers from a limited sales and service network. Additionally, a lack of features compared to competitors like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos impacted its sales. Consequently, the C5 Aircross did not sell a single unit in September 2025.
