New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals, the general public and businesses have been hit by inflation. Oil companies have released new LPG cylinder prices effective November 1st. This time, the price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder has been increased. However, domestic cooking gas consumers have received some relief, with the price of a 14.2-kg cylinder remaining unchanged.

According to the new rates, the cost of a commercial cylinder in Delhi has increased by ₹10 to ₹2,820. In October, it was priced at ₹2,810. Chennai saw the highest increase of ₹11.50, bringing the price to ₹2,994.50. In Ahmedabad, the price increased by ₹10.50 to ₹2,842.

In Delhi, a 19-kg commercial cylinder costs ₹2,820, while a domestic cylinder costs ₹942. In Mumbai, the prices are ₹2,764 and ₹941.50, respectively. In Chennai, a commercial cylinder costs ₹2,994.50, while a domestic cylinder costs ₹957.50.

In Ahmedabad, the price of a commercial cylinder is ₹2,842 and that of a domestic cylinder is ₹949. In Lucknow, the price of a commercial cylinder is ₹2,942 and that of a domestic cylinder is ₹979.50. In Patna, the price of a commercial cylinder is ₹3,132 and that of a domestic cylinder is ₹1,040. In Shillong, a commercial cylinder is available for ₹3,091 and a domestic cylinder for ₹1,007.50.

Commercial gas cylinders are primarily used in hotels, restaurants, dhabas, sweet shops, and catering businesses. The price hike for the second consecutive month will increase these businesses' operating costs. During the festive season, demand for sweets and food items is higher than ever. Therefore, the increased cost could impact consumers' pockets.

If hotel and restaurant owners pass on the increased gas prices to customers, dining out and purchasing sweets could become more expensive. However, with domestic cylinder prices remaining stable, household cooking gas expenses will remain relatively low for now.
