Google to Invest ₹88,705 Crore in India; Massive AI Data Center to Be Built in Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Tech giant Google is set to make its largest-ever investment in India, with plans to pour $10 billion (approximately ₹88,705 crore) into building a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) data center campus in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The massive facility will store and process large-scale data, significantly boosting India’s digital infrastructure, according to recent media reports.
An Andhra Pradesh government minister revealed that Google, which operates under Alphabet Inc., will construct a 1-gigawatt capacity data center. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and Google is expected to be signed on Tuesday. As per reports, the new AI data center campus will be located in Visakhapatnam, focusing on expanding AI infrastructure while strengthening energy supply systems and the fiber optic network across the region.
This major investment comes at a time when global tech companies are racing to expand their presence in AI and cloud computing. Industry giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta are also rapidly building data center networks in India and other countries. Google’s investment will not only enhance India’s digital ecosystem but also generate new employment opportunities and promote technological advancement in the region.
