Health Insurance Alert: Cashless Facility May Be Discontinued for This Company's Policyholders from Sept 1

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): If you have health insurance from Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, then this news is very important for you. In many hospitals of North India, the company's policyholders may stop getting the facility of cashless treatment from September 1, 2025. AHPI (Association of Healthcare Providers-India), an association of hospitals and health institutions, has advised its member hospitals to stop this facility.
AHPI has made serious allegations against Bajaj Allianz. According to the association, the insurance company is making payments to hospitals on the basis of several years old contracts and is refusing to revise the rates according to the increasing cost of treatment. AHPI, which represents more than 15,000 hospitals across the country, says that hospitals are facing huge problems due to problems like arbitrary reduction in payments by the insurance company, unnecessary delay in payment and long time taken in giving pre-authorization for treatment.
AHPI Director General Girdhar Gyani said, "Input costs in the medical sector increase by 7-8 percent every year. In such a situation, it has become impossible for hospitals to operate at the same rates as many years ago and maintain the quality of patient care."
Bajaj Allianz has expressed surprise at AHPI's move. The company's health insurance head, Bhaskar Nerurkar, said in a statement, "We are always committed to providing the best experience to our customers. We are confident that we will work together with AHPI and member hospitals to find an amicable solution to this issue that will be in the best interest of our customers."
AHPI has sent a similar notice to not only Bajaj Allianz, but also to Care Health Insurance on August 22. If Care Health Insurance does not respond by August 31, then the facility of cashless treatment may be stopped for its policyholders as well. This incident has brought the ongoing conflict between insurance companies and hospitals to the open, which can directly affect lakhs of policyholders.
