Hyundai Tucson discontinued: Flagship SUV vanishes from website, future uncertain

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Hyundai's flagship SUV, the Tucson, has caused a major stir in the automobile market. The company has removed the premium SUV from its official Indian website (in November 2025). This move has led to speculation that Hyundai may have discontinued the Tucson in India.
However, the company has yet to issue an official statement on this matter. Let's find out what the matter is and whether a new SUV will replace the Tucson.
Launched in August 2022, the Hyundai Tucson (fourth generation) was launched in India in August 2022. This SUV was one of the company's most premium offerings, directly competing with the likes of the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Toyota Fortuner. The Tucson garnered considerable attention for its stylish design, high-tech features, and especially its Level-2 ADAS safety system.
Premium features and a powerful engine:
The Hyundai Tucson was one of the few SUVs that offered the perfect blend of luxury and technology. It offered features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 360° camera, and six airbags.
This SUV was also powerful in terms of performance, as Hyundai offered it with two powerful engine options. The first was a 2.0-liter petrol engine that produced 154 bhp of power and 192 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The second option was a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produced 183 bhp of power and 416 Nm of torque. This diesel engine came with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and its top variant also had the option of an AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
What does the removal from the website mean?
The Tucson's removal from Hyundai's official website indicates that the SUV is no longer in production. There could be several reasons behind this; possibly the Tucson needed to be updated to meet new safety and BS6 Phase-2 emission norms. Furthermore, its high price was limiting its sales. It is also believed that Hyundai is currently focused on preparing new models like the Creta EV and the Alcazar facelift, which may be why the Tucson has been put on hold.
Will it return in a new avatar?
Market speculation is also rife that Hyundai may soon launch a new, updated version or facelifted version of the Tucson (2026 model). According to several reports, the new Tucson could feature a new design, a hybrid engine, and an updated ADAS system. If this happens, the Tucson could regain its foothold in the luxury mid-size SUV segment in India.
