Last day to file income tax return after deadline extended by one day
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Giving relief to taxpayers, the Income Tax Department has now extended the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 to 16 September 2025 means today is the last day to file ITR. Earlier this deadline was 15 September.
Deadline extended by one day, today is the last chance to file income tax return; more than 7 crore ITRs filed so far : The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued a circular late Monday night giving this information. This is the third time the date for filing ITR has been extended. In May, the deadline was first extended from July 31 to September 15 and now it has been extended for one more day.
This decision has been taken due to technical reasons and changes in the ITR form. Due to the new changes, necessary improvements were also being made in the ITR filing tools and backend systems. So far, more than 7.3 crore people have filed their ITR, which is about 2 lakh more than last year (7.28 crore).
