New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The country's major oil marketing companies have increased the prices of LPG cylinders. The price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder has been increased by 28 to 31 rupees. The new rates came into effect on March 1. However, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has remained unchanged.

Following the latest hike, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has risen from ₹1740.50 to ₹1768.50 in Delhi. In Kolkata, the price has risen from ₹1844.50 to ₹1875.50, in Mumbai from ₹1692.00 to ₹1720.50, and in Chennai from ₹1899.50 to ₹1929.00.

This decision by oil marketing companies will impose additional cost burdens on restaurant, hotel, and dhaba operators across the country. With the Holi festival approaching, this increase is considered a setback for businesses. However, domestic cylinders will remain available to ordinary consumers at the old rates.

The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged at Rs 853.00 in Delhi, Rs 879.00 in Kolkata, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai and Rs 868.50 in Chennai. Piped Natural Gas (PNG) prices also remain unchanged. The retail price of PNG remains at Rs 48.59 per SCM in Delhi, Rs 48.46 in Noida, Rs 47.40 in Gurugram, Rs 49.95 in Kanpur and Rs 50.27 per SCM in Ajmer.
