Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) on Friday refuted media reports and speculation that the Adani Group's flagship company was planning to launch an airline. Some media reports had claimed that the Adani Group was preparing to enter the airline business.

A spokesperson for Adani Enterprises Ltd. said, "We categorically deny recent media reports and market speculation that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline. These reports are completely baseless and factually incorrect. Adani Enterprises is not considering any proposal to enter the airline business."

Recently, Adani Airports had announced an ambitious plan to develop integrated airport cities across five states under its airport network, with an investment of over Rs 20,000 crore in the first phase.

The project will develop over 655 acres of land across six airports, including about 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone.

According to Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of India's largest private airport operator Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), approximately 22 million square feet of area will be developed in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.

The company will develop integrated airport cities around its airport network, where hospitality, retail, entertainment, convention centres and commercial infrastructure will be developed within a single complex, in a modern and accessible urban framework.

According to the company, about 70 per cent of the proposed investment will be made in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reflecting the importance of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), India's leading commercial, financial and aviation hub.

These projects will be developed as integrated and walkable urban areas where travellers, businesses and the local community can enjoy hotels, offices, retail stores, restaurants, entertainment and convention facilities in an environment seamlessly connected to the airport, metro and city transport system.
