New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In the inter-ministerial briefing, the government has made several important and major announcements regarding the country's energy supply and LPG distribution. While assuring continuous supply of domestic LPG and PNG without any cuts, the government has geared up to meet future challenges. In this connection, it has been decided to give 10 percent additional LPG quota to all the states on commercial gas cylinders. This step of the government will provide great relief to small traders and restaurant owners, who often had to face gas shortage during increased demand or festival season.

Bumper jump in domestic gas production

In a major relief for the government, domestic LPG production has seen a remarkable 40 percent increase. However, officials believe the current global and domestic LPG situation remains concerning. In light of this crisis, the government has made a special and important appeal to citizens. The government has urged residents in areas with PNG pipelines to immediately abandon their LPG cylinders and adopt PNG connections. This will significantly reduce the pressure on gas distribution, and it is also safer and more accessible than gas cylinders.

Raids on 2300 outlets to stop black marketing

The government has now come into strict action mode to maintain complete transparency in the gas distribution system and to curb black marketing. Under this, surprise checking and raids were conducted at 2300 LPG retail outlets across the country. The government has also made it clear that people should not pay any attention to the rumours being spread about gas shortage. While promoting digital booking, it was told in the briefing that today 93 percent of the total LPG booking has been completed through online medium only. A special appeal has been made to the people that instead of unnecessarily crowding at the LPG agency, they should book their gas through the official portal or app only.

Gas being unloaded from ships, PM Modi spoke to UAE President

The concerned ministry is monitoring the gas supply on a daily basis, and the situation is completely under control. It has been reported that the discharge of LPG from the LPG carrier ships 'Nanda Devi' and 'Shivalik' is currently progressing rapidly, and there is no congestion or obstruction at any port. Meanwhile, on the international front, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the President of the UAE and strongly condemned the attacks there. The government has also issued strict instructions that all Indians should strictly follow the security advisory issued by the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
