However, one man has stunned everyone by purchasing the high-end smartphone for just ₹40,000 and his method has gone viral on social media.
A post on X (formerly Twitter) claims that a user managed to buy the iPhone 17 Pro, launched in September with a starting price of ₹1,34,999, for only ₹40,000. The viral post was shared by a user named Sahil Pahwa, who revealed that he achieved this by redeeming HDFC Infinia credit card reward points.

In his post, Sahil shared a screenshot showing the order details the total value of the phone was ₹1,34,999, but he used 94,430 reward points from his credit card and paid just ₹40,470 in cash.
According to HDFC Bank’s portal, Infinia cardholders earn reward points on every purchase. When redeemed through the bank’s ‘SmartBuy’ platform, the value of these points can increase up to 10 times, allowing users to save big. Sahil used this strategy smartly to make a massive saving on his purchase.
Experts say such cases are rare, as collecting this many reward points requires extensive spending over time. However, it highlights how effectively using credit card reward points can lead to substantial benefits and savings.
