New car launches in January 2026: Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and more to hit the roads

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The year 2026 has been off to a rocky start for the Indian automobile market. The first half of January has already seen vehicles like the Mahindra XUV7XO, Tata Punch facelift, and new-generation Kia Seltos hit the roads, but the flow of new launches hasn't stopped. The remainder of this month will see several more major vehicles entering the Indian market, disrupting everything from compact SUVs to electric vehicles.
Renault Duster to be relaunched on Republic Day
One of the most anticipated launches of the month is the return of the Renault Duster. The company is set to unveil its iconic SUV in a new avatar on Republic Day, January 26, 2026. According to the images, its design will be significantly different and aggressive from the international model. Its interior is expected to feature modern features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, all-digital driver display, and ambient lighting, which will put it in direct competition with the Creta and Seltos.
Big preparations for Nissan and Maruti
Just before the Duster, Nissan will launch its new compact MPV, the Gravite, on January 21st. Based on the Renault Triber, this car will strengthen the brand's position in the sub-₹10 lakh segment, featuring features like an 8-inch touchscreen and six airbags. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is set to make history by launching its first mass-market electric SUV, the e-Vitara, by the end of January. Claiming a range of 543 kilometers, this EV will compete with the Tata Curve and Hyundai Creta EV.
Toyota and Volkswagen are also in the race
Toyota's "Urban Cruiser EV," based on Maruti's e-Vitara, is also scheduled to launch by the end of January, though its design will feature Toyota's own styling. Additionally, Volkswagen will launch its flagship 7-seater SUV, the "Tayron R-Line," this month. It will be positioned above the Tiguan and offer luxury features like a 15-inch display, seats with massage function, and a panoramic sunroof.
Skoda Kushaq's new avatar
Skoda is not far behind, launching the first major facelift of its popular SUV, the Kushaq, by the end of January. It could include a new dashboard layout, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and some ADAS features, making it even more technologically advanced.
