New labor codes kick in: Workers get double pay, health security and more

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated on Friday that the Modi government's guarantees have now emerged as guarantees to every worker in the country. He added that the new labor codes have been implemented across the country, which is considered a historic step to provide a strong foundation for the lives, prosperity and security of workers.
He said that these reforms are not just policy changes but an extraordinary decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of the workforce.
“Modi government's guarantee: Respect for every worker”, Mansukh Mandaviya wrote in a post on the social media platform X.
He informed that new labour codes have come into effect in the country from today. He informed that these include guarantee of timely minimum wages to all workers, guarantee of appointment letters to youth, guarantee of equal pay and respect to women, guarantee of social security to 40 crore workers, guarantee of gratuity after one year to fixed term employees, guarantee of free annual health check-up to workers above 40 years of age, guarantee of double wages for overtime, guarantee of 100% health security to workers in hazardous sectors and guarantee of social justice to workers as per international standards.
He further stated that this reform is not just a change but a historic decision taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the welfare of the working class. These new labor reforms are an important step towards a self-reliant India and will provide new impetus to the goal of a developed India 2047. The government has implemented four labor codes that consolidate 29 laws into a simple, transparent, and future-ready framework, empowering workers and promoting economic growth.
