PM Modi calls GST 2.0 a "festival gift", promises double support and growth for India

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with national award winning teachers. He said that the work of teachers goes far beyond the classroom. They promote character building and curiosity of the youth. PM Modi said that GST reform has added Panchratna to India's economy.
PM Modi said that your selection for this award is a proof of your hard work and your continuous practice, only then all this is possible. A teacher is not just the present, but also shapes the future generation of the country, he brightens the future. He said that I believe that this is also in no way less than anyone's service to the country in the category of service to the country. Our country has always been a worshipper of the Guru-Shishya tradition. Guru has been considered the guide of life. Mother gives birth and Guru gives life. Today, when we are moving with the goal of building a developed India, then this Guru-Shishya tradition is also our great strength. Teachers are the foundation of a strong country, a strong society.
The Prime Minister said that this time on 15th August, I had said from the Red Fort that it is very important to do next generation reforms to make India self-reliant. I had also promised the countrymen that there will be a double blast of happiness before this Diwali and Chhath Puja. The Government of India has taken a big decision on Wednesday in collaboration with the states. Now GST has become even simpler. There are mainly two rates of GST, 5 percent and 18 percent. The new rates of GST will come into effect from 22nd September, Monday, the first day of Navratri.
He further said that this time Dhanteras will be even more vibrant because taxes on dozens of things have been reduced significantly now. When GST was implemented 8 years ago, the dream of several decades came true. This is one of the biggest economic reforms of independent India. PM Modi said that as India moves forward in the 21st century, next generation reform has also been done in GST. GST 2.0 is a double dose of support and growth for the country. Every family in the country will benefit greatly from the new GST reform. The poor, neo-middle class, middle class women, students, farmers, youth, everyone will benefit tremendously from the reduction in GST tax. PM Modi said that the reform in GST has added the Panchratna to India's magnificent economy. First, the tax system has become much simpler.
Second, the quality of life of Indian citizens will improve. Third, both consumption and growth will get a new booster. Fourth, ease of doing business will boost investment and jobs. Fifth, cooperative federalism will be strengthened for a developed India. He further said that in the previous governments, a huge amount of tax was levied on goods. Before I came to power in 2014, the Congress government used to levy different taxes on many such things, be it kitchen items, agricultural goods or medicines, even life insurance. If that era had been there, today if you had bought something worth Rs 100, you would have had to pay a tax of Rs 20-25, but the aim of our government is to maximize savings in the lives of common people, to make people's lives better. Prime Minister Modi said that today I will again tell the countrymen that this series of reforms to make India self-reliant is not going to stop. Self-reliance for India is not a slogan, concrete efforts are being made in this direction.
