Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Indian stock markets closed in the green on Thursday's trading session. The market witnessed widespread buying. The Sensex closed the day higher by 320 points, or 0.39 percent, at 83,013.96, and the Nifty gained 93.35 points, or 0.37 percent, to 25,423.60.

Pharma stocks led the market higher. The Nifty Pharma index closed up 1.50 percent. Nifty Auto (0.32 percent), Nifty Financial Services (0.51 percent), Nifty FMCG (0.38 percent), Nifty Metal (0.32 percent), and Nifty Private Bank (0.44 percent) also gained.

Nifty PSU Bank (0.18%), Nifty Realty (0.07%), Nifty Energy (0.35%) and Nifty PSE (0.05%) closed lower. Along with largecaps, midcaps and smallcaps also gained. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 224.65 points or 0.38% at 59,073.20, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 53.75 points or 0.29% at 18,476.95.

Eternal (Zomato), Sun Pharma, Infosys, HDFC Bank, HCL Tech, HUL, Power Grid, ITC, Power Grid, ITC, Axis Bank and Adani Ports were among the top gainers in the Sensex pack. Tata Motors, Trent, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, BEL and SBI were among the top losers.

Investors made ₹1.01 lakh crore.

The total market capitalization of BSE-listed companies rose to ₹465.80 lakh crore today, from ₹464.79 lakh crore on the previous trading day, Wednesday, September 17. Thus, the market cap of BSE-listed companies increased by approximately ₹1.01 lakh crore today. In other words, investors' wealth increased by approximately ₹1.01 lakh crore.

Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, said that after a gap-up opening, Nifty witnessed volatility. In the short term, 25,300 and 25,150 will be important supports for Nifty. Meanwhile, 25,500 will be a resistance level. If Nifty crosses 26,000, further upside could be seen. In the current market, buying rather than selling would be a wise decision. The Indian stock market started in the green. At 9:25 am, Sensex was at 83,096, up 402 points or 0.49 percent, and Nifty was at 25,433, up 103 points or 0.41 percent.
