New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Elon Musk's ambitious satellite-based internet service Starlink faced a major global outage early today. Due to a technical fault, Starlink's server went down, causing internet services to come to a halt in 140 countries around the world, including the US and Europe. This is considered a rare global outage for satellite internet, as this service is known for its reliable connectivity.

According to a Reuters report, this problem occurred due to a technical flaw in Starlink's internal software. Due to software failure, thousands of users' device routers across the world suddenly went offline and their connectivity was lost. According to 'Downdetector', a website that tracks internet services, more than 61,000 users reported this problem in Starlink's service. According to Indian time, users started complaining of problems from around 12:30 pm on Friday night.

Due to this rare global outage, more than 60 lakh users of Starlink faced problems. However, the company's teams worked quickly and restored the services after about two and a half hours of hard work.

This global incident has happened at a time when Starlink is in the final stages of preparations to start its services in India. Elon Musk's company has received final approval from the Government of India. Now only spectrum allocation is awaited, after which Starlink will start its satellite internet service in India. This outage has sparked a new debate about the reliability of the service before its launch in India.
